Then select the liabilities account, and if necessary, a cost account and the payee. Define the calculation formula (e.g. fixed %) and enter the default rate. If needed, you can restrict the payment to a specific age group and choose whether it applies to the employer. All insurance contributions can be selected for an employee, even if they do not fall within a specific category (e.g. TyEL) due to age. The system automatically applies age limits during salary calculation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Employer&#8217;s contribution percentages are defined under <strong>Settings \u2192 Salary settings \u2192 Withholdings and employer&#8217;s contributions<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure that all necessary payments are <strong>active<\/strong> for each employee. This field should be left empty if the employment is valid until further notice (permanent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YEL entrepreneur<\/strong> is selected if the employee is covered by the Self-Employed Persons\u2019 Pension Insurance (YEL). This is not selected for regular employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Working time (%)<\/strong> indicates the employee\u2019s working hours in relation to full-time work. For example, 100 means full-time and 50 means part-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workday length<\/strong> refers to the duration of a normal working day in hours. This information is used, for example, in calculating leave days and absences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Earns holidays<\/strong> determines whether the employee earns annual leave. When this option is active, fields related to leave entitlement become available. When enabled, the system accrues either 2 or 2.5 days of leave per month, depending on the length of the employment. The system does not apply the 35-hour or 14-day rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Holiday entitlement (first year)<\/strong> defines how many leave days the employee accrues per month during the first year of employment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Holiday entitlement (after the first year)<\/strong> defines the accrual of leave days once the employment has continued for over one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:35px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"initial-holiday-balances\" >Initial holiday balances<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If the employee is added to the system during an ongoing employment, the <strong>Initial holiday balances<\/strong> section is used to define the employee\u2019s previously accrued and used leave days. If the employee is new and has not accrued any leave yet, this section does not need to be filled in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>As of<\/strong> field specifies the date up to which the leave balances have been calculated. This information is important so that the system can continue accruing leave correctly from that point onward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <strong>Add holiday balance for another year<\/strong> section, you can enter holiday data for each holiday year separately. A <strong>holiday year<\/strong> refers to the year in which the leave is taken. For example, if leave has accrued during the period 1 April 2025 \u2013 31 March 2026 and the holiday is taken in 2026, the holiday year is marked as 2026. The calendar is used to manage events related to employees\u2019 absences. It provides an overview of each employee\u2019s situation at a glance, such as vacations, sick leave, and other events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can add events such as <strong>sick leave, annual leave, parental leave, and other salary-affecting entries to the calendar<\/strong>. Events are added directly to the selected date for each employee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can add a new event by going to <strong>Salaries \u2192 Calendar<\/strong> and selecting <strong>+ Add Event<\/strong>. Choose the employee and define the event period by setting the <strong>Start<\/strong> and <strong>End<\/strong> dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the <strong>event type<\/strong>, which determines how the event affects salaries (e.g. holiday pay, sick leave pay, or other compensation). You can also add a <strong>notation<\/strong>, which does not affect salary calculations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Events recorded in the calendar are automatically transferred to salary calculations according to the selected event type. If necessary, enter the quantity and unit value \u2013 the system will calculate the total automatically.
